Cop, 2 Others Rape Woman at Bus Stop

A police constable and two other men allegedly gangraped a 40-year-old woman from Hyderabad, at the Kothakota bus stand in Mahbubnagar. A fourth man, a home guard, was a spectator.

The woman, a resident of Almasguda, was waiting at the RTC bus stand to return to Hyderabad at around 1 am when the men dragged her to the back of the washroom near the bus stand and raped her. Mahbubnagar police arrested the four men in a few hours after the woman lodged a complaint.

5 Minors Gangrape 12-yr-old Assam Girl

In what has come as shock, a 12-year-old girl was gangraped in an abandoned house by five minor boys in Guwahati. Senior superintendent of police, Guwahati, Anand Prakash Tiwari said that they have arrested five accused who were later found to be minors after a bone-marrow test.

The five boys are in the age group of 12 to 16 years and were her neighbours in Hatigaon area. They usually played together, the mother of the victim said in the FIR filed.

Geeta Charged In Jagan Assets Case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday named major industries minister J. Geeta Reddy as Accused No. 9 in the quid pro quo investments case of Y.S.Jagan Mohan Reddy, in the Lepakshi Knowledge Hub land allotment conspiracy.

IAS officers K. Ratna Prabha, B. Sambob, and D. Muralidhar Reddy were those named in the new chargesheets. The CBI filed two more chargesheets in the Special Court for CBI cases in connection with alleged irregularities in allotment of land and incentives to Lepakshi Knowledge Hub and Indu Techzone.

నిర్భయ కేసులో నలుగురు దోషులకు ఉరిశిక్ష

దేశ వ్యాప్తంగా సంచలనం రేపిన ఢిల్లీ గ్యాంగ్ రేప్ కేసులో నలుగురు దోషులకు సాకేత్ కోర్టు ఉరి శిక్ష విధించింది. శుక్రవారం మధ్యాహ్నం 2:30 గంటలకు ఈ కేసులో దోషులకు కోర్టు శిక్ష ఖరారు చేస్తూ కోర్టు తీర్పును వెలవడించింది. వైద్య విద్యార్థినిపై అత్యంత దారుణంగా అత్యాచారానికి పాల్పడిన వినయ్‌శర్మ, ముఖేష్‌సింగ్, అక్షయ్ కుమార్, పవన్‌గుప్తాలకు ఉరేసరి అని కోర్టు నిర్ధారించింది. ఈ కేసుపై వంద సార్లు విచారణలు విచారణ జరిగింది.

2010 డిసెంబర్ 16న ఢిల్లీలో నడుస్తున్న బస్సులో వైద్య విద్యార్థిని నిర్భయపై ఆరుగురు కామాంధులు అత్యంత పాశవికంగా అత్యాచారానికి పాల్పడ్డారు. ఈకేసులో ప్రధాన నిందితుడు రామ్‌సింగ్ తీహార్ జైల్లో ఆత్మహత్య చేసుకోగా, మైనరిటీ తీరని మరో నిందితుడికి జువైనల్‌కోర్టు మూడేళ్ల జైలుశిక్ష విధించింది.

ముగింపు దశకు జగన్ కేసు దర్యాప్తు కోర్టుకు తెలిపిన సీబీఐ కౌంటర్‌పై గడువుకు వినతి బెయిల్‌పై విచారణ 18కి వాయిదా  వైఎస్ జగన్ అక్రమాస్తుల కేసు త్వరలో కొలిక్కి రానుంది. ఈ కేసులో వివిధ అంశాలకు సంబంధించి ఇప్పటికే 8 చార్జిషీట్లు దాఖలు చేసిన సీబీఐ అదే క్రమంలో చివరి అభియోగ పత్రాన్ని కూడా సమర్పించేందుకు సిద్ధమవుతోంది. వచ్చే సోమవారమే(16న) సీబీఐ కోర్టులో తుది చార్జిషీట్ దాఖలు చేయాలని నిర్ణయించింది.

ఈ కేసు పరిశోధనాధికారిగా ఉన్న డీఐజీ వెంకటేశ్ బదిలీపై వెళ్లనుండటంతో ఆలోగానే తుది చార్జిషీట్‌ను కోర్టుకు అందించడం సముచితంగా ఉంటుందని సీబీఐ కేంద్ర వర్గాలు భావించాయి. దీంతో ఈ మేరకు హైదరాబాద్ అధికారులకు ఆదేశాలు ఇచ్చినట్లు సమాచారం.

Power Strike Begins

Dark days are ahead, literally, with employees of the power utilities, APGenco, APTransco and the four distribution companies going on a three-day (72-hour) strike from September 11 midnight over the bifurcation issue.

Of the 56,000 employees (including contract workers), at least two-thirds are expected to join the strike, badly affecting the power generation and supply chain in AP. While chairman and MD of APTransco Suresh Chanda appealed to the unions to reconsider their strike.

Anti-Taliban Sushmita Shot Dead

Indian national Sushmita Banerjee, whose memoir about her dramatic escape from the Taliban was turned into a Bollywood film, was shot dead in Afghanistan by suspected militants, the police said on Thursday. Banerjee, 49, was killed outside her Paktika province home. She was married to Afghan businessman Jaanbaz Khan and had recently moved back to Afghanistan to live with him.

Taliban militants arrived at her home in the provincial capital of Kharana, tied up her husband and other family members, took Banerjee out and shot her, the police was quoted as saying.

TV Star Goes to Police On Ex-Boyfriend

Pratyusha Banerjee, seen in Balika Vadhu and Jhalak Dikhlaja Jaa on TV, filed a police complaint against ex-boyfriend, businessman Makrand Malhotra, on Wednesday . He also filed a cross complaint against her.

The actor, 22, was on the phone with Malhotra and got into a spat, following which she approached the Oshiwara police. She alleged that Mr Malhotra forced her to go to the cops, but did not say why.

In a move that could have far-reaching consequences for Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, jailed former Gujarat police officer D.G. Vanzara on Tuesday resigned from the IPS and accused the government of having failed to protect the policemen jailed for encounter deaths while implementing its “conscious policy“.

He also took potshots at Mr Modi for hawking his image as a leader who relentlessly quashed terror, while not protecting police officers whose actions gave him that profile.

Addressing farmers who came from Anantapur to his camp office, Mr Reddy said Rayalaseema would be worst hit in the event of the state’s division. He reiterated that the Centre should address water problems, particularly those faced by Rayalaseema, before proceeding with the division of the state.

4 Mantris to Quit

Four Seemandhra ministers have decided to quit their posts and submit their resignation letters to Governor E.S.L.Narasimhan directly.

Infrastructure minister Ganta Srinivas Rao, law minister Erasu Pratap Reddy, animal husbandry minister Pinipe Viswa Roop and cooperative minister Kasu Venkata Krishna Reddy will meet the Governor on Monday and submit their resignations.
